Atlantic City, NJ —February 26, 2007—Wellogic, a healthcare software solutions company, and AtlantiCare, an integrated healthcare organization serving southeast New Jersey, today announced that AtlantiCare has selected Wellogic to provide an array of products and services to help it build a health information exchange. The exchange will electronically connect the healthcare stakeholders both within the health system and across its service area, including hospitals, community physicians, pharmacies, diagnostic service providers, payers, unions, employers, patients and their caregivers.

AtlantiCare is the largest healthcare organization in southeastern New Jersey, with nearly 5,000 employees, physicians and volunteers who provide service in more than 60 locations, including the 601-bed, two-campus AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, several primary care and behavioral health centers, and progressive health plan arrangements.

The Wellogic health information exchange solution will give AtlantiCare’s more than 400 physicians and more than 1,000 nurses and other caregivers ready availability of enterprise-wide patient information at the point of care. It will also create an enterprise-wide master entity index, a nomenclature service for the mapping of terminologies and code sets, a clinical data repository, and will be accompanied by patient, provider, and care management portals. "When implemented, lab values, medication records and visit documentation will all be immediately available as our physicians and nurses deliver care," said Gary Siegelman, MD, MSc, CPE, AtlantiCare’s vice president for Medical Affairs.

AtlantiCare’s selection process involved a thorough review of the market’s current capabilities and an evolution of the possible solutions that displayed a strategic alignment with AtlantiCare’s vision and future direction. “Wellogic was a clear choice for us and we are very excited about our long term partnership,” said George Lynn, CEO of AtlantiCare. “They exhibited the right combination of technical ability and experience in working with physicians and hospitals to connect all of these vital parts into a complete record of care. This would not be possible if it weren’t for Wellogic’s advanced technology and strategic vision.”

“We applaud AtlantiCare for its initiative to create the first connected community in New Jersey,” said Wellogic CEO Sumit Nagpal. “It is organizations like this one, making a commitment to use available and proven technologies to improve care in their communities, which will help move the country toward the future National Health Information Network and, ultimately, dramatically better care.”
