Palo Alto, CA—February 2, 2005—Frost & Sullivan's recent analysis, U.S. EMR Markets for Inpatient and Ambulatory Care, selected Wellogic as the recipient of the 2004 Excellence in Technology Award in the United States electronic medical records (EMR) market. The Massachusetts-based company focuses on providing clinical applications that enable usability and interoperability across care settings — a key requirement for the success of a community care model.

Every year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has pioneered an innovative technology into the market; a technology that has either revolutionized or has the potential to impact several market sectors. The award recognizes the overall technical excellence of a company and its commitment to technology innovation. This recognition comes through over 280 hours of market analysis conducted by Frost & Sullivan industry analysts, who recently completed an exhaustive study of electronic medical records (EMR) systems in the U.S.

Wellogic provides Web-based clinical applications, solution frameworks, and development consulting services to healthcare organizations. Through its technology framework, it enables the interconnection of healthcare organizations participating in the care of a patient -- for example, from hospitals to payors and pharmacies, or from practices to hospitals and laboratories -- helping to create unified patient data access and workflows among them. Wellogic Consult, the company's healthcare portal and electronic health record (EHR) solution, which is its end-user offering, is built upon and leverages the company's underlying technology framework.

The company is also adept at taking full advantage of its technological capabilities via strategic business alliances with other healthcare technology providers, medical device and medical trading partners.

"Wellogic focuses on facilitating end users to make safer decisions more promptly -- resulting in better care for their patients -- through optimizing their existing systems to integrate the latest medical knowledge with more complete patient data," said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Natesh S. Kare. "This requires the skill and excellence of Wellogic as identified by leading healthcare IT vendors and provider organizations that license Wellogic technology, such as VitalWorks."

Wellogic's Consult solution provides a highly personalizable, modular clinical workflow automation solution with features encompassing patient-centered task lists, medical records browsing and management, rules-driven alerts, secure messaging, clinical documentation and order entry. It also provides multimedia applications for inter-specialty referrals and second opinion consultations between ambulatory, as well as inpatient, settings of medium and large hospitals.

In the EMR market, Wellogic aims to connect all the constituents of a patient's care with a solution that combines excellence in technology with accessibility, resulting in the ubiquitous availability of patient records in a community.

"Wellogic's business approach is to view the patient at the center of care, with health care and service providers all contributing to his or her treatment, rather than viewing the caregivers as isolated elements within the community," notes Kare. "Such a philosophy toward the EMR market provides enormous opportunity for business expansion through technological innovation."

"We are honored to have received the 2004 Frost & Sullivan Excellence in Technology Award," said Sumit Nagpal, Wellogic's president and CEO. "Our engineering excellence and focus on clinically relevant solutions have been 12 years in the making, since our early days building EMR solutions for hospitals in the Boston community. Having received this honor from Frost & Sullivan is a welcome endorsement of our years of hard work and the growing numbers of community-based healthcare sponsors who recognize and value our innovation, as well as our desire to work as true partners."
